World Water Day 2014

ImageThis Saturday, March 22nd, is World Water Day; a UN recognised day to raise awareness of global water issues. Astonishingly 768 million people around the world are currently without access to clean drinking water and World Water Day is held every year to raise awareness of issues surrounding the state of the world’s sustainable freshwater resources.

We are very proud to say that our bottled water is supplied by BELU. At our stadia, museums, visitor attractions, arenas and the conferences and events we host, our guests drink BELU water; who by donating all their profits to WaterAid, have and will continue to make a huge difference in some of the world’s poorest communities. Last year alone, we ordered over 100,000 litres of bottled water from BELU!

In the three year partnership between BELU and WaterAid, £555,662 has been donated to transform the lives of over 37,000 people through initiatives to improve sanitation, hygiene and access to safe water! Their partnership has been extended until 2020, aiming to raise an incredible £1m.

WaterAid’s vision is a ‘world where everyone, everywhere has access to clean, safe water and toilets by 2030’ and companies like BELU and the awareness raised by World Water Day and all who get involved through activities, donations and fundraising events, are certainly making a big contribution to help turn this aim into a reality.
